TOXINS AND POISONS IN THE HOME THAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT¯

SODIUM LAURYL SULPHATE

A study by the American National Cancer Institute suggests that 98% of cancers may be linked to chemical exposure, 884 neuro-toxic chemicals are used in the cosmetic, perfume and toiletries industry.
One of these chemicals is SODIUM LAURYL SULPHATE (SLS). In the United States of America, Safety Data Sheets say of SLS:-In case of contact, immediately flush the eyes or skin with copious amounts ofwater for at least 15 minutes, while removing contaminated clothing. If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration then oxygen. If swallowed, wash out the mouth with water and call a doctor.
Symptoms of exposure may include burning sensation, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea, vomiting. Significant symptoms can persist for more than two years.

The main industrial use for SLS is as an ingredient in floor de-waxers, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners and agent orange.

It is commonly used in small amounts as a lathering agent in nearly all bathroom products, soap, shampoo, shower gel, bubble bath, shaving cream, toothpaste, washing up liquid, that is just a few of the common items containing SLS, What effect will this have on our bodies over a lifetime?.

SLS can cause cataracts, delay the healing of wounds, it is easily absorbed by the body, it builds up in the heart, liver and brain, it causes the skin to flake and it is such a caustic cleanser that it actually corrodes the hair follicle and impairs hair growth.

Is Your Shampoo Poisoning You?

Most personal care products contain a long list of harsh chemicals that could be far from safe for you and your family.
Have you ever wondered what all those long names are in your shampoo? You know the ones that you can’t even pronounce.
Take a look at your shampoo bottles and you will most likely find Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate or Propylene Glycol.
SLS is commonly found in industrial detergents and is used as a surfactant to break down the surface tension of water.
Some of its uses include concrete floor cleaners, engine degreaser and car wash detergents to name a few.
So why does it matter if you’re not putting these chemicals in your mouth? Because we know that anything you put on your skin topically will find its way through the pores of your skin and then into your bloodstream.

Here are just a few reasons why you don’t want these chemicals in your body.
The “Journal of the American College of Toxicology”€¯ stated the following:
SLS is used in clinical studies to irritate skin tissue.
SLS corrodes hair follicles and impairs ability to grow hair.
SLS enters and maintains residual levels in the heart, liver, lungs and brain from skin contact (shampoos?)
SLS denatures protein, impairs proper structural formation of young eyes - damage permanent.
SLS can damage the immune system; cause separation of skin layers and cause inflammation. to the skin.

Propylene Glycol is another chemical that is used in brake fluid, anti-freeze, laundry detergents, paints and coatings and floor wax.
Propylene Glycol is used as a Humectant. A Humectant is a substance that helps retain moisture content. It prevents things from drying out. This is the reason why its used in skin care and cosmetics. It makes the product feel soft and smooth on your skin and keeps the product from drying out.

The Material Data Sheet for Propylene Glycol states: implicated in contact dermatitis, kidney damage and liver abnormalities; can inhibit skin cell growth in human tests and can damage cell membranes causing rashes, dry skin and surface damage.
These and many other chemicals are used in personal care products because they are cheap and effective.
But where is the long term proof that they are truly safe. Consider this...50 years ago we were not exposed to as many chemicals as we are today. 50 years ago we did not have the high cancer rate we have today.
But there are alternatives, which are free from these harsh chemicals. One company is Natural Instinct, which produces 100% natural and organic skin and hair care products which are made in Australia.
Their range includes hair care, skin care, plus lots more which are all 100% plant based ingredients!

BREAST CANCER AND ANTIPERSPIRANTS

Research also shows that the leading cause of breast cancer, could be the use of Antiperspirants. The human body has a few areas that is used to purge toxins from the system, these are, behind the knees, behind the ears, the groin area and the armpits. The toxins are purged in the form of perspiration and antiperspirants inhibits the bodies natural action especially the armpits. The body deposits the toxins in to the lymph nodes below the arms since they can not be sweated out.
A concentration of toxins can then build up over time in the armpits which can lead to cell mutations (cancer).
Nearly all breast cancers occur in the upper outer quadrant of the breast area, this is where the lymph nodes are located. Men are less likely (though not exempt) from developing breast cancer, because any usage of Antiperspirant is likely to be caught up in the underarm hair, whereas most ladies shave under their arms, of course they increase the risk by shaving with a razor which will leave tiny nicks in the skin and helps the chemicals to enter the body.

When you consider some of the information above, to be a problem or worry, then do something about it now.

MARGARINE

You might not even realise it, but even the humble Margarine, is unhealthy and does have toxic effects on your system.
Margarine is made by adding Hydrogen atoms to the fat molecules to make them more saturated, raising the melting point, so that it remains solid for spreading at normal room temperature. This method, known as Hydrogenation became popular because this type of oil does not spoil or go off, quite so readily as regular oil.
Apparently you can leave Margarine out in the open for years and it will not develop mould, neither will it be touched by insects, or even rodents. It appears that only humans are foolish enough to eat the stuff.
